The Water That Drank Me

It was like sunlight in the middle of the night, meeting you for the first time. You had scales and ribbon eyes that made me wander in a wonder for three days.

We were supposed to submerge in the creek like prayers on a Sunday. The train never got here and curiously enough, neither did you. I stood on stones that spelled your name. They burned my hands when I picked them up.
